My simple bedding formula and the winter sale ends tomorrow
With little ones, I don’t always know where I’ll end up at night. Sometimes I’m in my own bed, sometimes the guest room, and often in a twin beside a small child who has decided 2am is the perfect time for company.
At first this felt disruptive. Over time, I realized that if every bed in our home felt the same, I could rest well no matter where I landed.
Hotel pillows.
Simple, supportive white down alternative pillows feel clean and dependable, and they’re easy to refresh when they’ve been loved by small people. They also bring that consistent hotel feeling from room to room.
Biscuit sheets.
I’ve slowly been collecting printed cotton sheet sets from Biscuit Home for each room in our house, and it’s become one of my favorite ways to give every bed its own personality. The cotton is soft and breathable, comfortable in every season, but it’s the patterns I truly love — Dorothy on our bed, Ouisie Green in the guest room, Truvy Pink on my older daughter’s bed, and soon Shelby Blue for the baby. The mix feels thoughtful and layered, yet easy and lived-in — exactly how I want our home to feel.
A quilted coverlet.
The quilted coverlet is my practical layer. It protects the sheets, adds warmth, and makes the bed look pulled together even on busy days. My go to coverlet is no longer available, but this beautiful one is equivalent in price and will be what I am using from now on.
A lightweight down blanket.
The best part of this down blanket is its versatility. In warmer months, I fold the down blanket at the end of the bed so it’s there if someone needs an extra layer at night. During the winter, the down blanket goes under the coverlet and they get tucked into the mattress. My oldest daughter and I say this feels like a hotel bed, perfectly tucked and inviting. It’s the same pieces, just arranged differently.
Finally, a Trudie quilt and lumbar pillows.
This is where the bed gets its personality. The quilt brings color and warmth, and the lumbar pillow adds that finishing touch. They’re easy to move from bed to bed, which is perfect for our musical beds season of life.
Whether I’m in my room, a guest room, or beside a toddler, the layers feel familiar and soothing. The bed always feels intentional, even when life is chaotic.
If you’ve been thinking about adding a Trudie quilt or lumbar pillow to your own bed, our winter sale is happening now. It’s a lovely time to try your own version of this formula and make sleep feel just a little more special.
